Captain's office

Fuse slowly made her way to Captain Kurosawa’s office. She raised her hand to knock on the door, but then hesitated slightly. She had never met the Captain of Squad 12, but rumors of his odd behavior were never absent. She needed information though, and she wouldn’t let rumors stop her from obtaining it. She shook her head slightly, and then knocked on the door, giving it three solid taps, that were not too loud, but loud enough to be heard. It didn’t make a difference if he was odd or not, and they were only rumors after all.

Akira was looking over files of new recruits coming into his squad when he heard the knocks. His office was very dark, and dimly lit by the light of monitors and his desk light. He got up and walked to the door, stumbling over a few chords. He opened the door and yelled, "I told you before, I don't care how unorthodox my methods are-..." before he saw who was at the door. "Oh, Captain Sakuko. Do you require my assistance?" he asked shifting his voice to a more pleasant tone.

[[I'm probably not going to be able to reply until Saturday night.]]

She laughed quietly, "Yes, I have a few questions concerning the Vizards. I don't know of anyone else who would even begin to know any of the information." Fuse said, her mind raced as she recalled each of the other Captain's faces. She shook her head, thinking that most of the Captains were rash fighters, not thinkers, or obtainers of knowledge.

"Vizards...." Akira said before hesitating for a few seconds. He let the word echo in his head. He had always known both the intellectual and the strategic perks of hollowification. Secretly, he had always wanted to experience the hollowification process when he felt the time right. He looked at the squad 4 captain inquisitively. "What would the captain of the healing and maintenance squad need to know about such subjects?" he asked her, curious to figure out her motives.

"I don't believe that I saw you at the Captain's meeting earlier, so I will fill you in before I answer your questions. We are on the brink of war with the Vizards, but we know what they are after. The same thing the Arrancar were after centuries ago, the hougyoku. As to the location of the artifact, only the Head Captain Areku knows exactly."

She paused sighing, and brushed a bang away from her eyes. "The meeting proved that we have very little knowledge of these Vizard. We don't know how many there are, nor their strengths. I know that their numbers will not be revealed until we either send a scouting party or the first attack, so naturally I would like to acquire more information about their strengths and weaknesses, so that we may use them to our advantage."

"As to your question about why I would like to know this information, the answer is that even though my squad members are not fighters we need to be prepared. In war one can never know when or where a battle will break out. We need to utilize the information that we already possess to our advantage.”

Akira looked at Fuse and cocked an eyebrow. "Very well then. Follow me." he said ushering her into his office. "Mind the chords." he said, watching where he stepped. He grabbed a remote off of his desk, and pressed a button to turn on a white board sized monitor. He walked back behind a computer and pulled up the files he had on the Vizards. He cleared his throat and began his presentation.

"Well, as you know, when a human dies, said human will either become a whole or a hollow. However, whichever side said human's soul crosses to, that soul will never be on that side one hundred percent. There is a whole in every hollow and a hollow in every whole. Now, when one becomes a vizard, one's inner hollow is awakened through a process called hollowification. The process, of course, is the exact opposite of shinigamification, the process hollows go through to become arrancar. Now after hollowification, the shinigami in question must step inside of his/her soul to combat and, hopefully, dominate it. When a shinigami's inner hollow is dominated, that gives shinigami the ability to hollowify, augmenting the shinigami's original powers and giving the shinigami some hollow powers in the process. However, a shinigami can only remain hollowified for as long as said shinigami can dominate their inner hollows. This time limit varies amongst the vizards. Some can only hold their hollows for a few minutes, and some can hold it for several hours." He explained to Fuse, while several visual aids and diagrams showed up on the screen.

"It's fascinating, really..." Akria started letting himself get a little carried away. "Shinigami dominating hollows that dwell within them to gain their powers." he said to Fuse. "Perhaps, if I were to be so bold, I would suggest that we start experimenting with the hollowification. Then there would be no need for such a war." Akira said to Fuse.

Fuse stepped in, and carefully avoided the cords that were on the floor. "Interesting." she said after listening to his explanation. "How would you go about conducting these experiments?" she asked. "I am not completely for using souls as experimentation, but desperate times call for desperate measures. It is desperate times, and we need to do all we can to understand our enemies."
She paused and her voice grew serious? "What do you need to conduct your experiments?"
