Squad 9 - Captain's Office

Akaira entered her quarters; took a seat at her desk and let out a sigh as she noticed a rather large stack of paperwork neatly piled waiting for her apon her return. She quickly pushed them aside for the moment and sat quietly in her office. Their was nothing special about her office; the walls were the same simple white like all the others. A small pile of some books she hadn't gotten around to reading lay on the small coffee table in the center of the room across her sofa, but something about her office always put her at ease. She rested her head on the desk; these trips to the soul society really wore her out..and she knew not everyone was happy about her return. A few of the Captains had made their true thoughts on the matter known to everyone..oh well she would just have to make the best of things..she turned her attention to the window and let her mind wander; unaware she had left her door wide open...

Setsuna slowly walked into the office of his new captain and walked to her desk saluting her as regulations clearly stated he should when in the presence of a Captain class Soul Reaper. "Setsuna Usagi reporting Captain!" Said Setsuna in a sturdy voice his eyeslooking straight ahead and directly at her, it was obvious he hadnt been out of the academy that long because of his behavior. "Is there anything you need of me?" He asked simply breaking the salute but remained standing straight in her presence till she gave the the command.

Having been zoning out the past two-three minutes Akaira nearly jumped out of her seat at the sound of someones voice. Much to her surprise she gazed over to find the new member of her squad had arrived; she could tell by the polite way he had addressed her. She smiled

"You must be the the new member of the squad; allow me to introduce myself I'm Akaira Maichiru. Pleased to meet you; welcome to Squad 9 Setsuna Usagi" she chimed happily "Now that all that formality out of the way..please relax I assure you you can be at ease here " she said quickly noticing his discomfort and tucked a stray piece of her long honey blonde hair behind her ear. "I know this may sound strange but, please just call me Akaira" she asked politely. Truth be told she really prefered to be addressed by her name. Such formality made her uncomfortable; it was something she still wasn't use to.

"Things around here are fine at the moment; so you can have some time to relax and get use to things here for awhile. I know going to a new squad takes some getting used to, but first there's something I'd like to ask you. Do you know what our job is here in squad nine?" she asked suddenly a bit more serious

Setsuna was a little taken back by her request and manner having thought Captains to be kinda stuck up and very serious, but orders were orders and besides he was just a farm boy and rather preffered this normal laid back attitude. "Yes cap- I mean Akaira." Said Setsuna slowly relaxin before blinking at what she said next and he showed some seriousness in his eyes as if to show her he knew perfectly well what they did. "Squad Nine is in charge of maintaining the inner peace and internal disputes of Soul Society. We are also in charge of capture and or restraining rogues who break ranks in all of Soul Society." Said Setsuna with a nod doing his best to recall everything he read about his new squad though at the moment he was not to sure if he had gotten that right just now, oh well if he didnt he would take any punishment for getting it wrong.

Akaira smiled she could tell but the way he reacted that calling by her name could take some getting used to; but was impressed by how he had answered her question.

"I couldn't have said it better myself" she mused and put hand on her head "Yes thats basicly what we do here; well I'm glad to see you know so much already I must admit I'm impressed." she could count the number of times new members had arrived in her office with no idea what they were even assigned to do. "Well if you have any questions feel free to ask and please make yourself at home here" she chimed

"Well I am glad I can impress you, though I am sure that will quickly fade. I aint the smartest or one of the best around here." Setsuna said with a nod as he watched his captain for a moment he had very little faith in his abilities at the moment, he sighed before looking around slowly feeling the urge to do something. "So Araika I was wondering, who is the Lieutenant?" ASked Setsuna tilting his head to the side slowly as he looked back to her with a smile. "He or She should be in here helping you with that paperwork." Said Setsuna nodding slowly as he looked to the large stack slowly.

Akaira gazed at him curiously a bit surprised to find he had such little faith in his abilities. "I highly doubt that.." she mused "You see its not often we are given new members that show such promise." she said confidently then sigh as she gazed at her large stack of paperwork; looking a bit puzzed.

"Well actually I'm finding myself in a position were I'm looking for a new Lieutenant" she admited a bit distrested and then looked back at him "So I'm wondering Usagi-kun..would you like to be my new lieutenant?" she asked her small; yet warm smile returned

Setsuna smiled and watched his captain happily, he was glad he had gotten put into a squad with such a kind Captain such as her. "I wont let you down and betray your faith in me then." Said Setsuna chuckling for a moment before blinking and his eyes widened when he had heard Akaira a little shocked but quickly recovered. "W-Well I would be honored to fill that seat. Only if you dont have anyone better to fill it." Said Setsuna with a nod as he watched his Captain waiting for her response still really shoked he was offered such a position just a few days after his graduation.

Akaira giggled happy by his excitement; and by the expression on his face. Then nodded "I would feel better knowing someone with your promise and eagerness filled the position. I can tell you will be able to do the job very well" She stood up from her seat excited "So I guess its settled then..Welcome to squad nine lieutenant Usagi-kun" she said happily

Suddenly a small rather nice looking hell butterfly flew into the room and landed on her sholder. She turned towards her new lieutenant. "Please excuse me but I must report to the Head Captain." she said and went towards the door " I shall return in a moment" she assured him before leaving

"Its an honor to be here Akaira-sama." Said Setsuna keeping his smile as he watched her stand up and he blinked for a moment wondering how his little sister would take this news. "I wont let you down I promise." He said with a chuckle before blinking and nodded before looking to the paper work and nodded slowly hoping she wouldnt be mad if he got to work on lowering that pile for her. "I will get to work then." He said with a nod taking the papers to the table and began reading thrrew them. After a while he stopped and wrote a letter telling his captain he was going to the training grounds in the Lieutenants quaraters

After doing his best to stiffle a yawn Artemis went on his way to see his captain. It had only been a few days since he had joined squad nine so he couldn't help but be a little curious to talk to the captain. He saw the open door and reluctantly entered and looked around...Captain are you here..?

Akaira entered her office; trying to remember were she had placed her pawky; now that she to was kinda hungry. she glanced into a small pantry she hide in the corner of the room. "Who wants noodles???" she chimed

"Noodles would be more then lovely Akaira." Said Setsuna with a smile as he followed in behind her but blinked for a moment, looking to Artemis for a moment his eyes getting serious for a moment before calming. "Akaira captain I think we have a guest." Said Setsuna with a chuckle and a nod.

Akaira blinked and glanced around; before giving Artemis a small apologetic smile. "I'm sorry I didn't see you there." she said quickly; feeling guilty she hadn't noticed him sooner. "Would you like some noodles?" she chimed

He strightened up ..ohh sorry Captain I didn't mean to intrude.. he stammered ..umm thanks noodles sound good.. He took a minute to glance around the room I was just wondering if you were up for a chat..he quickly looked away as his face turned red

Akaira took a moment and to get out the food "It's fine..but please just call me Akaira.." she insisted "Please have a seat" she said and pointed to the sofa for her friends to sit; before handing Usagi a bowl of noodles.

"Thank you Akaira." Said Usagi taking taking the bowl and moving to the soa and carefully sitting down and watching the other two for a moment before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.

he cast another look around suddenly feeling very uncomfortable Sorry Maichiru-sama....on second thought I'll just come back later..he muttered and left quietly

Akaira was about to say something, but desided against it. Instead she merly let out a sigh before looking at her noodles "I'm I missing something here?"

"Not that I see Akaira." Said Setsume looking to his captain again then to his teammate before taking a mouth full of noodle. "Mmm! This is wonderful!" Said Setsume with a smile.

Akaira grinned "I'm glad you like them.." she said happily "I must say they are one of my better dishes." she paused a momment and munched happily on her much anticapated lunch "Afterwords would you be up for anouther spar?" she asked eagerly with a small playful smile.

"Oh I would Akaira-sama! Sparring with you has been very good training." Said Setsume smiling to his captain as he went back to the meal, he had to admit this was very pleasant indeed.

Akaira's smile brightened; the past few months of nothing but paperwork had left her feeling rather restless. She placed her empty raman bowl aside and quickly pulled out a rather large oddly shape triangle sandwich. "Yay jelly tarts.!" she chimmed "Would you like to try one?" she asked quickly before taking a bite of her own

Setsume blinked for a moment looking at the strange snack she had and finished his ramen quickly, setting the bowl down he tilted his head to the side. "Yes acturally I would, what is a jelly tart?" Asked Setsume curiously.

Akaira took a thoughtful bite of her sandwich "I beleve its a pastry; with chocolate and jelly filling I brought them from the world of the living." she said and gave a stretch "They really do make unusual things there." she added with a little chuckle. She grabbed another and headed for the door. "Have as many as you like; I'm going to go open the training room. Please excuse me." she gave a happy little wave before leaving.
